oil change light coming on too soon?
I change at 5000 and never see the light (except when I forgot to reset the OCI, then the light came on a couple hundred miles after my change) so my style driving and duty cycle seem to match.
Ron is right about that air filter.
Mileage is a weak indicator for oil life. You can analyze your oil for $26 from Blackstone labs or just spend the ~ $40 for the change.
With Mobil 1, you are probably OK to not change for a while but for the price of a tank of gas you get peace of mind.
There was something about your usage that made the OCI signal for change.
Or, is it possible that you didn't do a reset last change????

The owners manual says not to exceed 6K, and the maintenance schedule is listed at 6K intervals. Mobil1 synthetic is pretty good stuff, but any reputable brand of full synthetic is going to serve you better on engine wear than dino-juice. I've seen mobile 1 tests where after 7500 miles it still has the same wear and lubrication properties as when it goes in. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that some folks are running it for 10-15K without issue. the mobil 1 filters have a claim on them that they are good to 12K. I'm not that brave with the vehicle that puts food on my table...
The OCI care not for your mileage. Only your duty cycle.
Should say so in your manual. But if it has never lit, then you may not.

I do suspect that some folks who have the (unnecessary) habit of pumping the gas pedal before they turn the ignition may unknowingly reset their OCI.
my 07 doesn't seem to have the light but I have an 04 silverado that I have ran m1 In since day 1 and change every 10k and it was coming out clean until the wife went almost 20k on it and it was clean at 90 k.

if you get your oil changed every 3,000 miles and do it at the dealer you will likely never see the OCI as they reset it (or supposed to) every oil change...
ive got just about 20,000 on my 09 and only seen it light up once when they forgot to reset it.. came on the day after i got the oil changed...

Ive got an 08 and it always goes off about 500 miles early....its probably the dealership putting in crappy oil in it.
