Oil filter?
Well it happened again right around 1200-1500 miles after oil change the damn Mopar filter started leaking again. I lost just over a quart on the ride home from work it was about a hour drive. I notice the oil puddle under my jeep when I came out from work. Now my entire jeep is coated with oil underneath again. What a PITA to clean.
I switched to a NAPA gold filter. I will never buy another Mopar filter again after the luck I have had with them this happened the last 3 oil changes

I actually found a site that tested about every filter made. Bosch had the highest filtration capacity. K&n had the highest flow but that sacrificed filtration some. Mobile 1 and wix were also among the top. The mobile 1 was made identical to the K&n the tester thought that they may be made in the same factory. Fram was among bottom of the list when you see them taken apart next to the top filters its easy to see why. The fram is half the price of the others mentioned though.
That said I run the Bosch on my jeeps and K&N on my 72 Mustang cause it needs the higher flow capacity.

Most people have this problem with fram its because the anti drain back valve on the filter is very weak and if left sitting can result in poor lubrication on startup. The Ford dealership I use to go to when I had a F150 told customers that using a fram would mess up the engine and not to expect to get it warrantied there when it blew up. Maybe a little harsh but they said they saw more engines with problems caused by oil starvation than with other filters.
What is the best filter for the 3.8. I've been having issues with the Mopar filters I replaced two already cause the seal is bad after about 1500-2000 miles after the oil change. And I'm sick of cleaning the whole underneath of the jeep cause oil is blowing all over it.
Any suggestion would be great. Unless I just got a bad batch of oil filters

The Mobil 1 filter drainback valve didn't work for me and my Jeep made horrible dry start sounds.

X3 on the Motorcraft fl400s ...excellent filter at an excellent price. Its either the Motorcraft or Purolator for me. Coincidentally, Purolator makes the Motorcraft filters for Ford. Can't go wrong with either. Never a Fram for me. One of Frams higher priced filters is actually constructed well but its price point is much higher than the Motorcraft/Purolator. The orange cans which are at the lower price point are not good. We had one come apart when I was a kid on my moms car causing engine damage, since then my dad and I avoid them like the plague.
I can't believe no one posted pictures....
Fram Vs A quality Filter....
Note, the filter one has a cardboard case, other metal, also at the top the drain back valve, the Napa Gold filter actually uses a spring as do must "quality" filters. The napa filter also has more pleats.

I will spend the extra 2-3 bucks for a good filter. My 3.8 gets abused enough trying to turn 35s and being ran in dirt, mud, dust, ect.

Anyone been using this Fram filter? Just purchased that and 6 quarts of mobile 1 full synthetic 10w30 for my 08 Sahara today. Made the change to synthetic oil and this filter. Any thoughts / suggestions? Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk
I just put that same ultra filter on this past weekend. I plan to leave it on for a year.
There is a lot of info on oil filters including many cut open new and used filters in the oil filter forum on BITOG.
