who owns jeep
ok so i understand that fiat owns chrysler now and I guess jeep too. So are the late model jeeps considered a non american car now? My 08 was built I think when daimler had stock or owned jeep. does that mean that it is not American? don't get me wrong I love my jeep and wouldn't trade it for the world. but I always try to buy american so if jeep is no longer american then there are no more decent 4 wheel drives made in this country which totally bums me out. so some out there shed some light on this for me.
The way car manufactures are now it's hard to know. You jeep was built in the states. Is that what makes it American? Provides jobs. In that respect allot of foreign cars are built here too. A VW you come across probably is more American than a ram truck built in Mexico In my opinion.
By law, American content must be included on the window sticker of every new vehicle. Just check there and compare to other vehicles. And, just so you know, right now all Jeep Wranglers are made in Toledo, OH. Even those sold overseas. There is some discussion of possibly making Jeeps in China for sale in the Chinese market since they basically won't let Jeep send any from Toledo, OH to sell over there. Not sure what the current status of that is, though I expect during the next U.S. national election cycle we'll hear plenty more about this.
Here's a bit old news article to give you an idea of where your Jeep stands ...

The Jeep brand is what is keeping Chrysler afloat. And we, as taxpayers, bailed them out twice. Once when the government gave them $$$$ and next when we bought our JKs. Therefore don't be shy when dealing with any issues. They owe us.
