Oil pressure gauge install
Coming time where I get to start the engine break-in cycle...
That is after I figure out the cause of some O2 sensor codes that sounded like dead sensors originally.
New sensors and the codes are still there...
Now I'm leaning towards something in the circuit itself since new sensors didn't fix it.
The joy of buying a jeep with a bad engine, and not being able to fully test everything before I tore it apart.
Anyways, it blows my mind that they didn't include an actual oil pressure gauge.
Just a fkn light!?!
First a minivan engine, then a minivan pressure light.
So, my question is:
Where should I pipe in the pressure gauge?
I'm leaning towards the location where the oil pressure switch is, but I'm not sure if that's before or after the filter...
I used that side (passenger front cover) to confirm I had the engine primed via an OTC oil pressure gauge I had on hand. and I also used that oil pressure gauge hose and used a fluid suction tool to suck up the oil past the pump in order to get a solid prime.
My other idea would be to install the sensor on the driver side (left engine block) side of the block, I know that's after the filter but I'm not sure what the thread pitch is if I went that route...
Thoughts?

Found this.

Or go this route to install one.

I think the answer is to just use the pressure switch port.
I know the thread size of that one, plus it's not too difficult to access since I still have the fender liners removed.
Current plan is to use an AN fitting adapter, then move the sensor a little, install a T from there and run a line into the cab.
I have the 3-gauge pod that sits on top of the radio, I'll probably add a transmission temp and engine oil temp with it...

And the ones I have found cost 2-3x what a mechanical gauge runs.
Or are you saying that I could use an electric sender, leave the wire for the pressure switch attached to that + run the gauge?
Or you're saying that the pressure switch can operate as an actual oil pressure sender?
I'm assuming that the OEM sender is just a pressure switch, so the current plan is to just run off of that port and run two connections via a "T".
JFish, the electric oil pressure gauge will come with the sending unit, you will add the wire from the sending unit to the gauge. Do not tap into the existing temp gauge wiring. If you look , you will find autometer sells an electric gauge and even has "jeep" printed on the face of the gauge ! running wet lines into the cab is way old fashioned and really not a good idea even if using copper tube instead of plastic/nylon.

It looks like it's the pressure line, the instructions call out electric senders for everything except for the oil pressure.
I could be wrong?
ETA: it does look like it's an electric sender!
boy, they sure don't go out of their way to advertise that...

Yes, if you check at the bottom of the listing from Summit it states the sending unit is included, no pressure line, all electric.... pretty sure they also have a transmission temp. gauge the same way. I have a PPE deep aluminum oil pan with a sender installed. Welded a bung to the transmission pan for that gauge, both gauges in a pod on my door frame.

And yes, I have the entire set sitting in my cart.
Can't say no to a "Jeep" logo on the gauges.
