I recently got into an altercation with a light pole and was wondering how badly I messed up my rig. The OEM step bars won't be missed, I was going to change them out for something better anyway. It's the damage done under the door I was worried about. Any suggestions? Obviously the first step would be avoiding hitting more poles...

 

start looking for parts from salvage yards or turn into insurance. ouch that will be pricey

 

Unless your deductible is outrageous, the best way to fix that is turn it in to insurance.

 

I'd take it to a body shop to get a quote. Can't hurt to check junkyards, but ultimately it'll be pricey. If you do go the insurance route, I'd buy the hinges, handles, inners and latches (if they replace they whole doors that is). I'm looking at building some home-brew half doors anyway. Good luck either way!

 

Thanks for the info. I was hoping for better news but kinda knew I was screwed. Will be taking her to the shop for an estimate and will have to go from there.

 

Too bad... stuff happens. Your insurance should take care of it for you... your premium may go up a bit

Buddy of mine had very similar altercation, though the door was off at the time... Cost about 300 + 150 for the step

 

I was thinking that too. I hate how those darned light poles jump right out at you!
