I currently have a 2009 Wrangler Sahara, I really like it, it has 43,000 miles and is a third vehicle for my family, it only has a soft top. I have only had it for a few months.
I have about $20k into the vehicle. I have an opportunity to trade this in on a 2012 certified Sahara with 3500 miles on it, it only has a soft top as well.
So my question is what do you think of this price and what would I be gaining by this upgrade, besides newer vehicle and a warranty?. (I am wondering if I am posting this in the right area).
Thanks in advance for your help.

What is the price? How many $$ would need to fork over? One thing to consider is the lifecycle cost. If you look out 5 yrs, the 2012 would almost certainly be worth more than the 2009. Also the 2012 has about 40% more horsepower and 10% better MPG compared to the 2009.
Current vehicle is paid for - I may be able to swing a cash payment for that $10K or could just finance that amount. Keep the comments coming thanks. I did not think your comments were rude!
Tell them you will do the deal if they let you Keep your 35's <--- I'm assuming thats what you have throw in a 2" BB lift. Your going to be with a better Jeep the interior is better the Engine etc... Just my opinion.
A lot to be said about having a paid off rig. That's one reason why I haven't traded up.
Some of the 2012's have had head issues with the pentastar. Consider that now and down the road if or when you sell. May never be a problem, but is is a risk you assume with a '12.
Bottom line is- Would you spend 1/2 of your current Jeeps value (more) for an increase in hp and a newer style interior?
Both are great rigs... Good luck either way.

I have an 08 Sahara and will only trade it if/when the Sand version comes out in Model yr 14/15, otherwise I'll install a Hemi and keep on going. Plus a paid off vehicle is a nice thing to have especially in our uncertain economy. Definitely agree with keeping the 35's if you do trade however.
Good Luck

We have a 08 Sahara with 104,000KMS on it. Very very happy with it.
There's something to be said about a paid off vehical....drive it and get your money worth out of it.
Each time I think of (or look at the new JKs) i visualize that steelership 'business manager' with their grubby hand in my pocket taking my my hard earn money.
When the time is right I will buy another one, for now rocking the 08 and planning to pass it down to my kids....provided they earn the money to pay for it....helps them understand my point above

Lets see. . . . you have a good running JK that you like and its paid for. Swap it for a new one and you will have more debt . . . and a good running JK.
Now, some folks like debt just fine - but to me its just another form of serfdom.
I thought life was grand when I had expensive toys and payments to go with them, but it only took cutting back on the toys a little to become totally debt-free. its AWESOME, and I have FREE WILL at last!!
Hmmm. . . "Freewill". Makes an OK handle, huh?
