Default outer shift boot brace broken

My shift boot has bit the dust. The previous owner apparently had work done (so I figure) and decided the best thing Would be to Superglue the plastic piece attached back to the console. I suppose after two summers the heat made the glue come loose.

My question is can I get just this piece replaced? Or will I need more than just a new boot?

By the way, yes I know my JK is dirty, haha.

Thanks.

When I had the clutch replaced in my '08 JK, my tech broke the ring around the shift boot. I found out throught that, you have to buy the whole thing. It's not too expensive though, and a super easy replacement. However, taking the shift knob off isn't the easiest thing in the world. The parts guy at the dealer tried to sell me a new shift knob at the same time because most everyone ruins thiers trying to remove them to install a new shift boot.

Here's a video my buddy took of me removing the shift knob, so that I could replace the shift boot. He totally demolished his when he removed his, and everything we found online stated that it was impossible, so we wanted to prove all wrong. Jeep shift knob removal - YouTube

By the way, I figured out you don't need to remove the top part of the knob at all, just the lower ring. Good luck!

Great! Thanks for the responses. I may try the drilling first. If that doesn't pan out too well I suppose I'll get it replaced.

The replacement from the dealership is about 26 bucks, but its still crap and will prob end up with the same problem down the road, do a search of shift bezel mod, there are some great write ups,

You could always just bolt The top and bottom pieces back together. Just drill out the fake bolts and put jam nuts inside.
