Default P0158 Help

So my Jeep threw a P0158 code awhile back and I finally got around to changing the O2 sensor last weekend. I cleared the code yesterday with a buddy's reader and was fine til this morning, when the MIL light came back on and threw the same code. Anyone have any ideas on what else could be causing this, the wires looked fine when I replaced the sensor.

REF:
P0158 O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage
02 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 2)

Thanks

O2 sensor 2/2 is the lower one, on the driver's side, (left), of the vehicle.

P0158-O2 SENSOR 2/2 CIRCUIT HIGH

  • When Monitored: Continuously with the engine running, no O2 sensor heater DTCs present, 2/2 Oxygen Sensor heater temperature within a specific range, and battery voltage greater than 10.4 volts.
  • Set Condition: The PCM detects that the 2/2 Oxygen Sensor voltage is greater than the maximum acceptable value for a specific amount of time, based on O2 sensor heater temperature. The DTC will set as Pending after one trip and Active after two trips. Three good trips to turn off the MIL.

Possible Causes
O2 2/2 SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
O2 RETURN DOWNSTREAM CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
O2 2/2 SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN
O2 RETURN DOWNSTREAM CIRCUIT OPEN
2/2 O2 SENSOR
POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)

And that might be my problem as I replaced the passenger side O2 sensor, hopefully I am just an idiot and got mixed up.

Thanks for the help ronjenx.

Thanks for the help ronjenx.
While a new sensor will most likely fix it, there are some things to check first.
And there is always the possibility the PCM is bad, too.

I will check and see, hopefully its just the sensor as this is the only code I have gotten.

Jloman77 empty your inbox. Im trying to send you my response about the 4dr take offs.

Here it is..

It seemed to be less stiff with the 4 dr Rubi coils and shocks. I am still running the 4dr coils with no lift at all and 35's and I love it. You should do it! I have since trimmed the fenders, rock rails and pinched seam. The only measurement I wish I would have captured was from the ground to the bottom of the jeep. I measured from the top of the tires to the fenders. I will eventually go to a small budget boost but I hit the trails last weekend and was surprised that I didn't rub at all. It is my DD as well and I love it.
