P0404 code NOT caused by EGR
So my Jeep threw a P0404. Anyone that knows about the EGR in the jk knows it's a PITA to get to. Anyway. I was doing some research because I didn't have the typical signs of a bad EGR. I had a smooth idea. No stalling. No dead areas in my rpm range. So after some research I discovered that the Ambient Air Temp Sensor is tied in with the EGR setup. So I checked my AATS by simply checking its displayed temp on my dash with the actual temp of my weather app and sure enough it was way off. So instead of grabbing a $50 (el cheapo) or $125 (Mopar) EGR and fighting with it for a few hours I ordered a $12 sensor and replaced it in minutes. So far so good, 2 days and no light "Yet". So before you go swapping out the EGR check you sensor!!
