Default P0480 after returning to stock

I'm going to be trading in my 2012 JK next weekend so yesterday I was returning it to stock. After removing the wiring for the aftermarket lights my Jeep threw a P0480. I tried clearing the code but it wouldn't clear. A friend out of state said it had to be a short since the code won't clear. Does anyone have any info to get me started on fixing it?

Have you scanned for the presence of any other codes?

P0480 relates to the cooling fan circuit. It will set this code when the PCM sends a request to the TIPM to turn on the cooling fan, but the fan does not come on.

Have you checked to see if the cooling fan comes on when the engine gets hot?

The fan does not come on and it is the only code

OK. Now that we know there is no other code, and the fan does not come on when it should...

Did returning it to stock involve any re-programming of the PCM or TIPM?

If not, you may have disturbed some wiring or a connector between the PCM and TIPM, or between the TIPM and the fan.

A quick test would be to put 12 volts directly to the fan momentarily to see if it will come on. If it comes on, inspect the connectors and wiring.

There was no reprogramming. I'm about to test the fan now. There's a green wire from the battery to the bottom of the fuse box. Do you have any idea what that's for?

I just wired from the battery to the clip above the fan and nothing. I seems like a huge coincidence that the fan would go out right when I'm returning it to stock
