Default Painting Faded Black Trim/Flares/Etc.?

All of the plastic black trim on my JK has faded from black to dark gray. I've tried some temporary solutions to try and restore the black color, but these solutions don't last long and sometimes leave streaks on doors and paint when it rains. I'm looking for a more permanent solution to try and get my trim looking like new.

I've heard of some people removing all of the plastic and painting it with black spray paint. Is this a good or bad idea? What is the best kind of paint to use? Do I need to prime everything before painting it?

Also, is it difficult to remove some of the trim, like the door handles and mirror brackets? What about the fender flares?

Thanks for the advice!

Also you can try RaggTopp cleaner and protectant. I used it on my top and soft windows for a while now and one day tried it on my bumpers, fender flares etc... and they look brand new and shiny again after one application.

Hmmm I have a hard enough time with all the new scratches and dents, 4 licence plate mounts. The black trim is the least of my worries. Do you take it out and play with it much? I took mt fenders off after a few rip offs and went with something else.

Browse for any of the Fender Chop threads for lots of info on removing them.

I've been using Advanced Autoparts brand tire cleaner just spray it on a rag and wipe it on. Works much better than Mothers Back to Black and it suggest this use on the can. On the cheap side to.
