Default Pinch seam...what were they thinking???

Ok, so I read thread after thread about people having to cut the pinch seam when they add larger tires. Even with stock tires, why does it even exist? It looks like crap. Why could it not come clean with the flow of the fender when it was made? Does anyone have an answer as to why???????

Manufacturing process. That is what is left when they stamp the two layers of the body tub together, then they spot weld it to hold it together.

Just the way they setup the machine to stamp the pieces of metal before combining them together to make the tub.
