Electrical Gremlins are often caused by bad grounds or wiring shorts
I went through a lot to narrow down and eliminate my electrical woes... maybe this will help:

A bad wire was causing electricity to arc, melting the wire due to the higher resistance. The wiring harness was under $200.
All said and done with a new alternator, battery, labor, and new harness cost me about $1000 to fix. Make sure they check this part, first.
