Default Please Help me with this ?

I spilled some oil on my engine while replacing a quart of oil, I am wondering if I can power wash it off? Will this hurt the engine ? I mean it will be hot of course since I have to drive it to the do it yourself car wash place. Please let me know your professional input as I am ignorant in this area. Thanks.

If it were mine, I'd go a little less aggressive than cold water/high pressure/hot engine. I'd try and wipe up as much as possible w/ cloth rags, then use an engine degreaser to spot treat the affected areas, using a light mist on a cold engine to wash it off. Then run the engine to throw off the water. Maybe too cautios for a Jeep, but blasting through a stream still doesn't equal the force of a pressure washer...

Let 'er rip. I've hit mine with no ill effects. The JK & the CJ. Not so much as an extra crank before starting. I do make some effort not to blast the spark plugs & fuse box areas.
Other than that, I'm pretty aggressive with the spray.

Keep in mind if your name is Murphy you will be the guy that somehow gets enough water somewhere to stall it.

My wife is one of these people, though her name isn't murphy. If there is anything marginal on a vehicle it WILL break in her presence.

Well your method will probably NEVER cause harm.

Wait a minute... I just realized my original post may have had some pornographic undertones. Did somebody call a plumber? Bow chicka bow wow.

I usually spray all of the electrical connections, spark plugs, and cables with silicone spray about 10 minutes before I hit my engines with the H20. Have not had an issue with non-distributor vehicles yet.
