Default Possible issue

2010 JK Unlimited..no mods. 15xxxkm 32" stock Goodyears. Did my own syn oil change at 10xxx km.

Ive noticed my fuel consumption increase.

My DTE gauge decreases a km every 15 seconds on idle and my avg eco gauge reads me on average 18-19 mpg with mixed city and country road driving. Not hard on the skinny either, shift every 2000-2100 rpm too.

Is that the norm and im just reading into it too much? Or is there something not right....im a noob when it comes to the JK

The longer a vehicle idles the less MPG's it's going to get (or KPG's in your case. Maybe KPL: kilos per litre?), because while the engine is running but not driving anywhere you're getting 0 mpg. The DTE reading might update evey 15 seconds and then factors in that 0 to your average.

As for the oil change, unless you put some seriously thick oil in your engine I don't think you'd lose any MPG. But if you did I don't think it would be significant enough to notice more fuel consumption.

So goes without saying that losing distance on the DTE while idling, is possibly indicating something really uncool.

I used castrol synthetic 5w30 or whatever viscosity the manual listed.

No actually what he is saying is that because you are idling and not moving you are using gas and not getting any kilometers on the Jeep. The computer takes this into consideration and provides an average consumption upon update. This is normal.

Think about jogging. If you jog around the block you went all that way and burned some calories. If you jog on the spot you used the calories but didn't go anywhere....

Yes I am getting a bit more but mines a 2 door so you have that much more weight to pull around. I also took out my backseat to save the weight as it's useless.

I don't bother looking at the consumption data as it distracts me from enjoying the Jeep. I figure I am getting around 450 to 475 kilometers per tank and it costs me $50 to fill up. With gas prices hitting $1.07 per litre or approx $4 a gallon I'll be jumping the border to fill up.
