Possible rear axle bent
Possibly - they rotated the tires and did an inspection along with the oil change; I have a squeak in the same wheel that I've tried to fix several times - the brake pad keeps coming lose and rubbing, he said he believed that it was because of the bent axle constantly pushing it out of line. This kind of made sense to me.
I have to replace ball joints this weekend, so I will try the tips suggested. I've had the Jeep 5 years, 92,000 miles and plan on keeping it forever, so I should probably just take care of her now and not have any regrets.
Thanks all

clearly i need to read better....
jksteve13 - yeah I don't tend to trust them either, hence hitting the forum
it seemed like an odd thing to recommend randomly, like brakes, shocks, etc. I would be like yeah you're just trying to milk me.
Thanks again folks

You can just have someone spin the wheel while it's on jackstands, no need to have the motor on. Put it in Neutral, have someone spin it while you step back 5 feet or so and look at it from the rear. If the flange is bent, it will wobble.
To give you some perspective, you can put something like another jackstand right up next, but not touching, the tire. That will really allow you to see if there is a wobble.

My post was to the OP, giving him another alternative to checking the trueness of his axle himself. It had nothing to do with oil change places. Maertz gave him one, I gave him another.
Do you have the original wheel on the Jeep? If not did you take out the lock washers on the hub bolts? Also it could be the tires, I had a Toyo OC MT go bad and had it replaced under warranty... Make sure your lug nuts aren't stripped too.
After having some death wobble issues after swapping wheels and tires I tracked down a set of New Sahara take offs like my originals and went back to stock along with replacing track bar, shocks, etc. (Death wobble did go away) The tires have been rotated multiple times and I still have the squeak from the same side, so I don't think it is the wheel that's bad or bent or anything like that. It's def the brake pad moving, I've fixed it several times, but something is making it come back loose.
I don't wheel a lot per se, but am on bumpy two tracks a lot. I have a wildlife experiment running at a WMA and go out once a week or so. And on the weekends get out to the duck pond and things like that. So it's off road a lot but nothing real tuff (good 'ol flat oklahoma). However, I do tend to drive over things too fast - pot holes, train tracks - off road sometimes as well.
The weather is really nice here today so I think I will get out and jack it up and see what its really doing. I thought I could kind of feel it driving around today, but then I couldn't decide if it was in my head or not, lol!

Jacked it up and gave it a spin. It seems to be ever so slightly bent, there is less than 1/8" difference, but it is definitely there.
So, now on the axle hunt. Went over the write up and it seemed pretty straight forward. The only thing now is I'm having trouble figuring out how many splines the replacement should be. Any hints in this department?

I have my front axle out as of right now, and it was super easy, so I think I will upgrade the back two as soon as I finish this hellish front end project I stupidly tried to tackle. The video made it look like a breeze
Trying to change out my ball joints. In trying to press out the first upper with the tool I have managed to break the ball joint. The top and the stem went through but the casing is still in there. Any tricks for getting it out after this has occurred? I don't have enough clearance to get leverage enough on it to get the press to tighten all the way. The guy in the vid had a lift. I'm going to try to jack up the frame tomorrow and see if that will give me the extra little space I need. Man this has turned into an ordeal. Everything was super rusted and stuck together. The hub assembly and axle came out together (don't really know if this is something to worry about) and refuse to separate.
Not enough day light today....try again tomorrow

lift it up on jacks and spin the tires? it would seem the wheels don't spin that easy do they ?? enough to spin it and stand back and see ? I think mine are not so free spinning but wonder how to check a front axle to see if its damaged I recently had the dealer check it out they found bad stabilizer shock and aligned front camber in 1 degree said that was it that caused death wobble but as I drive I still feel a wada wada wada it feels like a tire out of balance but I had got a dw thats is why I brought it in at 19,000 miles no lift stock not abused but im wondering if my axle is bent and how to tell on a dana 44 if you have a slight bend or tweaked ? they said everything looks fine but im not thinking the same it might be I bent a wheel a stock rubicon wheel ?there pretty rugged to bend no?
thes dam things arnt built like the old jeeps I don't rock climb but ive heard you can bend a axle buy hitting a dam pot hole hard which ive done , but if that were the case the alignment would have been way out and both fronts were still in specs they just brought it 1 degree closer tires all wearing perfect so its not the tire it would or could be out of balance but no weight is missing either can that be that tire goes out of balance with out throwing a weight ? * ( sorry not trying steal a thread but while on topic of checking axles)
