Ok I know there are alot threads on here about power door lock. But none of them fit my problem.
08 jku Sahara 73k miles
My right rear door lock will not lock or unlock with the switch or the fob. It moves but not enough to make it work like it is suppose to. I have check the plug and voltage it looks good. I have also taken the door panel off and the whole assembly out and check it. I didnt open the assembly up.
Anyone else have that problem. If so how did u fix it.

This is why I no longer regret settling for the used rubicon with no power windows/locks. Best decision, taken enough flack from people commenting about it being a new vehicle (Rubicam at that) and not even having power windows/locks. Well things do break, especially when said thing is exposed to the type of off-roading these Jks or capable of. Also being stuck with a dead battery and the windows down. No thanks.

Any hoo hopefully someone will chime in. Probably just need a new actuator by the sounds of it. Might of got wet, little seized now. Oil my help?

Does it work OK when you use the key in the cylinder? I'd look over the connecting rods for obstruction or slipping.

The actuators aren't too expensive, maybe in the $60-70 range. Haven't heard of many (any) wearing out.

It works fine when manually lock and unlock. But not using power.

If nothing is dragging or catching then it must just be fading away.

You could disconnect. Reconnect the wire harness. Check for corrosion there.

You could try holding it close enough to the other side to plug in and test it from that power plug.

In other words, remove the other rear door then have helpers position the questionable door close enough to plug in there. See if you notice any change. That could rule out body wiring etc.

Just brainstorming. Good luck.

Really!! You take this stance on power door locks or windows? Just like you said, things do break. Air conditioning, power steering, navigation, and so on. Can you honestly say if you were in the market for a JK and both were the same price but one had power door locks and windows you would take the one with a window crank..

If the key works fine, then the cables should be fine. I would check the power cords for a loose connection, especially if youve taken the doors off. Good luck.
