Default power loss concern.

first off im new here, so hello. ive just bought a 2011 sport 4 door. its got the 225/75r16 tires. my jks an auto with 3.73 gears. im looking to up the tires to 265/75 but am worried about a big power loss and fuel economy loss. i jsut gotr rid of my 94 wrangler. it had 33's and 4.88's but was still sluggish with the 2.5l. i dont wont to be in the same situation as i was with ole yj. i dont have the money to regear so just looking for some insight. thanks. brandon

I don't think the 265/75 would hurt you at all or at most very little. I ran stock rubi take offs for awhile before getting what I have now. Running the rubi tires did not have any affect on mine. I don't have the auto so don't know if that would have made it different or not.

Exactly what I did to my 2010 in august when new. No noticeable power loss from tire change. Biggest effect was on speedo .... It'll be off which will make mpg lower when it's really not !! Added an airaid filter system and superchips programmer. Life is great now !!

Yeah, if you're only going up an inch or so in tire diameter then you should be fine with 3.73s on an auto; you just might find yourself switching the OD off more of the time.

3.21s & the 6-speed though are another matter, as they're almost bordering on marginal with Rubi spec 32" tires, so most re-gear when going over 33"s.
