Change my oil in the summer months, but don't feel like crawling under my truck in the winter when it's -15 to -20C....wee bit cold! Also it's a pain in the rear to dispose of 12.5L of oil each oil change on my Diesel. Mechanic charges me $15.00 to change and dispose of the oil. Normal disposal fees to dump 12.5L of oil and filter is $10.00 here in Revelstoke. Figure $5.00 for someone to get under my truck and change it is worth it!

yeah i have never been a fan of the quick lube places. I think it was the final straw when i went there for what was probably my second oil change after getting my first car and as my whole car was shaking side to because the guy below was "makin sure its on tight, i know you probably do a lot of hard launchin in this sports car and dont want it to come lose during a take off" i realized i am better off doing it myself. Not to mention when i change the oil i let it drip it out for awhile and a lot comes out actually but the quick lube places let the flow stop and plug it back up so they dont get as much of the old oil out.

My final straw was with my first car too. I lived in an apartment, and well in Minnesota you don't want to be changing your oil (or anything for that matter) in the middle of winter. Being the skeptical person I am, I checked it out afterwards. Filter was fine and so was the oil level, but they didn't touch the zerks. And that car had zerks. Not exactly a nightmare scenario, but looking at the sheet and seeing they marked it off was enough for me.
