Default Rattle?

Rattle, humming, knock noise coming from under my 2012 jk sport. It's a manual, and it only happens if I'm in neutral, not moving with the clutch out. So lets say i run into the house and leave the car running. When i depress the clutch the noise stops. Nobody but me notices it I'm sure but i hear it clear as a bell. If i leave it in neutral with the clutch out And I move the shifter just towards a gear (of course i can't put it into gear without the clutch depressed) the noise goes away then too. Normal?

Sounds like a throw out bearing how many miles do you have on the clutch.

Yeah, I had the same thing happen to my '07. It might start squealing eventually too. I put 70,000 miles on it though and never had any other problems besides the noise.

So it's nothing that needs to be addressed for any other reason than being sort of annoying twice a week...If i wanted to fix it what would the dealer be looking for?

+1 on throwout bearing in the transmission.

My dealer fixed it under warranty. But when I got her back the stick never sounded or felt the same...

If its the same type of problem I would just deal with the noise. Sometimes if you are in neutral and you just tap the clutch pedal with your foot the noise will stop, you could just try and adjust the pedal. Based on what Whiskey said I would just wait until you need a new clutch and then address the problem. My dealer told me it wouldn't be covered under warranty but I guess now I'm glad it wasn't.

My '13 JKUR made a similar vibration/rattle. There is a small metal clip in the shift knob that was making my noise. Having my hand on the shifter did not fix... I replaced with a Drake and no more vibration/rattle.

Both of my 2013s made this noise, my current one made it since day one. Another weird thing is you can put the tcase in 4wd and it stops. Also it only seems to do it when warm.
