Hello i just traded my toyota FJ for a 2010 Jeep wrangler rubicon. I noticed today that when i go to pass a car and floor it i hear this rattle i am not sure if it is normal or not it seems like there is something loose but i don't see anything any info would be grateful thanks

 

A bit more info needed. At times it can be the heat shields from the cross over pipe or the one next to the headers. depending on what the person who owned you jeep before you it might be your drive shafts.

 

It sounds like it is coming from the passenger side and only does it when the engine is above 5000 rpm even if i am in park i am thinking it is a shield i bought from a jeep dealership

 

chECK UNDER THE HOOD FOR MISSING PAINT ECT. ( OR IN MY CASE MISSING MUD/DIRT) WITHER WAY IF ITS NOT ACTING STUPID THEN SCREW IT. MINE DOES IT ALL THE TIME AND I CANT FIND IT, MAINLY BECAUSE IM LAZY, BUT ITS NOT HURTING ANYTHING SO I REALLY DIDNT CARE

 

is it a rattling or more like a pinging noise that could be coming from the engine?

 

If it sounds like it is right at the firewall it could be the heater tubes behind the dash rattling against each other. There is threads in this. People have fixed it with a piece of heater hose placed between the two tubes so they don't vibrate against each other.

 

It's your heat shield of your y pipe. they are known for the welds braking off. You can either weld it back on to your exhaust, pry it off, or clamp it back into place. if your look at the picture I posted it would be where I circled.

 

I would check all the heat shields. I had one that rattled pretty bad, but was able to pry it out and stop it.

 

Why u reving you engine over 5000rpms anyway?
