Rear 2012 Shocks
My driver side rear shock lower bushing has worn out. The bottom of the shock has movement to it now. I do have a 2.5 budget boost but still able to use the factory shocks because of a bracket that came with the kit. I know it would be cheaper to replace the bushings in that one shock but I'm also thinking about replacing the shock itself of course the other side would be replaced as well.
It's a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
My questions are
how do you remove the shock?
Do I need to lift it or can it be done on ground?
How do I change the bushing?
If I replace the shock
What are some good shocks for factory ride height?

the rear shocks have 2 thru bolts & a nut that hold them in place.
you should be able to replace the shocks w/out lifting the jeep since theyre not actually weight bearing like a a spiring.
this video makes it look more complicated - you do not necessarily need a lift or a jack - (I've done shock replacements on similar style shocks, laying in my drive way)....assuming you can get to the nuts/bolts on the shock you might not even have to remove the tire (although it could make access easier)

Do it in driveway. No lifting or jackstands needed. Two bolts on top to remove, either side of shock. Best to have ratchet with long (12" or more) extension. Remove. Remove nut off bottom bolt that goes through bushing. Pull out bolt. It may be helpful to use a punch and hammer to drive it out if stuck. There may be pressure on shock, causing it to extend. Push against this until you can remove shock and extension. A pry bar may help. Reverse to install new one. Look up and torque hardware to proper values. Should be done in 30 minutes.
Good shocks could be Rubi take-offs. Check the for sale threads here, or Craig's list.
