Default Rear DS slinging grease

So it looks like I'm facing a pretty common situation. I put a 2 inch lift on my 6spd JK about six months ago and when I was crawling around under her last week I noticed grease escaping the boot on the rear drive shaft.

Thing is, the boot is still completely intact, the grease is seeping out of the outer edges.

I've read around a little bit to get an idea of what to expect and I know that ultimately I need to replace the drive shaft (which on principle, I would be happy to do).

For now, the JK is a grocery getter. I'm in law school so at most I'm driving it 50 miles a week and wont be wheeling. The flip side to that is I don't have the money to throw at a drive shaft and probably wont for almost a year. So my question is, is there anything in the mean time that I can do to keep my baby running safely AND, is she safe to make the drive between SoCal and Phoenix for Christmas?

Any thoughts?

Thanks for any input. You guys are awesome.

If you could get some new grease in there and then maybe try the blue form a gasket to help hold it in.

You can probably get one for little or nothing on this forum, from a 4wd shop in PHX where they upgrade new JKs, etc.

I have one, but I'm 1200 miles north of you.

Or, if you have a good relationship with your dealer service manager, you can probably get it fixed under warranty.
If I do get my hands on a used stock one, will I not likely be facing the same failure again a few months later? My lift is only 2 inches but I'm fairly convinced that's what caused this to happen.

As far as the form-a-gasket goes...

Anyone have thoughts on that? I'm thinking I might give it a shot. Not much grease has gotten out yet so maybe I'll just try to seal it up as-is.

Also... just noticed you were from Billings. Got a lot of family up there. Most of em up by the border in tiny little Scobey though.

Is that little boot not replaceable?
