Default Rear Propshaft/Driveshaft gaiter

Last weekend I misjudged a rock and ripped apart the plastic gaiter that protects the sliding splined joint on the rear propshaft.

I want to replace it, but here in the UK Jeep do not sell the gaiter as a separate part. It is only available with a complete propshaft assembly at £450UK ($600US)

Is this gaiter available separately in the US? If so who could I buy it from?

Alternatively if there is anyone who has swapped out their stock propshafts for aftermarket ones, would you be prepared to sell me your stock gaiter please?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I don't want to run around without it for too long on our salty roads

I did the same with my front driveshaft and it is not availablevin Canada or the USA without purchasing the complete shaft. I will go with an after market one.

Try a junk yard or what ever you call them in merry olde England. You are talking about the rubber boot around the middle of the shaft with the slip joint right?

Just looked at a parts diagram of the shaft and they do not list that part separate.

EDIT: If you Google "drive shaft rubber boot" you might find something you can use.

Exactly, I am talking about the rubber boot around the middle of the shaft with the slip joint!

Thanks to all for the replies, I guess if it was a really important part then it would be available on its own 'cos it's bound to get damaged! I'll run without it and see what happens.

As for looking in the junk yard, Jeep have only sold a couple of hundred JK's in England and maybe only 6 of those actually get used off road so I have little chance of getting one off a "wrecker"

You will be fine, don't worry about it. I tore my front boot Jen I first got my jeep and I drive it daily and wheeled it frequently. Only thing is: I checked he shaft at that area when I washed and made sure there was no debris stuck in the grooves. Your fine without it....

Thanks!

I've decided to do just that. Our roads are salted and gritted all winter so I'll just make sure there's plenty of grease on the splines before then!
