Rear Rack
I use to have a rear rack that mounted to the tailgate above the spare tire on my TJ.
Does anyone make a rack like this for the JK?
I see them for tire carriers. I was wondering if they make one that mounts to the tailgate.
Thanks

Let me know how it does if you buy it. I've been thinking of getting one myself.

There are concerns about putting the extra weight of a larger tire on the tailgate, I would think this would be just as bad to hang on the tailgate if not worse, since it will be farther from the tailgate putting more leverage on it. I would look into enforcing the hinges atleast.
Is that a Packers "G" on your old rack?
If so..
Skol Vikings, let's sweep the Pack again this year! Monday night game last year was one of the funnest games to watch....
sorry, just for grins bud

The rack won't cause any issues as long as you stay within the weight guidelines the rack manufacturer provides. I believe it's 35 lbs., but I don't remember for sure. I use a rack that carries 4X as much as the upper rack that mounts to the trailer receiver. It's lower to the ground, holds more weight, is over twice as large and mounts/removes quickly for the time (most of it) when you don't need it. It also doesn't obstruct your visibility when loaded.
JeepTrav - Nope that is the UGA University of Georgia G.
pastorsteve - It is 75 lbs
I am not going with a bigger tire. I have the stock spare on there. It would be gas cans or thinks like that. Things I don't want in the cab.
I think I might make one. I don't like the look of this options or the cost over $100 for the rack and almost $100 for the tray.

They are actually referencing how the rack is installed on the brackets. It has more than one option, mounts closer with soft top on than it does with the hardtop on, so when it is positioned for the hardtop, you can't go with the full 75lb rating.
I will try to get pics up soon.
It is freaking huge.
I have carried a 5 gal gas can on it and it did well. I set it low as it would go.
I have a trip to FL next week and we will see how it does.
