Default Rear window zipper

I've noticed that a few people have had issues with the zipper on the rear window... many people do what I do: leave a little bit connected and stuff it all down in the storage area.

On the far left of my rear window the zipper has now come apart. The metal end on the soft top side seems to have corroded away.

Does anyone know if these are repairable? or would it be cheaper to just get a new top?

The only real concern with the gap I now have in the back is from rain/snow.

You could speak to a sailmaker or sail repair shop for a quote on fixing the zipper.

I found that the problem for me was being too aggressive when starting to install the window. I would pull the window sliders up too high on the top before starting to zip. The match would be off from the get go and be a devil to get off again. So once I got it matched just right, I used a permanent marker to make a guide line mark above the sliders. Now I can "see" when I have it lined up. Still takes a couple tries sometimes. But I make sure the zipper is lined up right before I zip it up.

I had my zipper rip and I took it to the dealer. He sent me to a repair shop and the guy told me he could not repair it. The dealer replaced the whole top under warranty.
