Default record new trail using Trip Log

Hi everyone, couldn't find a thread about this. Is there a way to record a trail using the "trip Log" or any other feature on the navigation system? I'd like to be able to save a trail using trip log so I go get back some other time and load it to the navigation system so I can find the same spot. I have a Wrangler Unlimited 2011 with the RHB system. I found an article here: Why a Jeep's navigation system doesn't lead to trails
QUOTE:
"Jeep is offering navis with features such as the ability to drop digital "bread crumbs." It has shown up as a "record new trail" key on the navigation unit. That is, owners can get the navigation system to plot where they have already gone..."

I can't find the "Record new trail" button on mine. Maybe using roadtrip? (I have a mac) Any input would be greatly appreciated...

I have the 730N RHR. To do what you're asking in mine, you do the following

1. Hit the NAV hardbutton to bring up the NAV - Main Menu
2. Hit the MAP softbutton at the lower right to bring up the map.
3. Once the map comes up, hit the top softbutton in the pair in the lower right-hand corner of the map. It looks like a green donut and red donut connected with a dotted line. This will start recording your waypoints/breadcrumbs. The button will change to display a stop sign while recording.
4. When you're done, hit the stop button (the same softbutton as in step 3) and it'll ask you whether you want to Save, Continue recording, or Discard.

This is how mine works, anyway. It may differ if you have a different sales code radio. Your manual should tell you for sure how to do it, I would think.

Interesting. I finally found a manual for the 430N RHB.

It would appear that you don't have that feature on the RHB, or at least none that I can find in the manual. I'm not really up on the feature differences between the different sales codes, though -- the last touchscreen that I had was in my 2011 JKU, but it was the 430 without the NAV.

Yeah I read through the manual but and couldn't find anything. It just seems like a feature that any basic nav system should have, especially on a Jeep. What i've been doing is saving gps coordinates on favorites with names like "Turn Left" every few miles so I can at least have reference points. Anyway thanks for the info...
