Default Regarding Freedom top: sun bonnet?

Can you run just the two panels to create a hard sun bonnet ( hard bikini) ?

I saw this on ebay!

That's amazing that I didn't know about this. Of course I have a soft top but now I'm thinkiing hardtop for winter, hard sun bonnet for summers. Anyone wanna sell their hardtop? So ..let me ask this.....can you remove just the back of the hardtop while leaving the two panels attached? or do you have to at least loosen them and slide them forward? My guess is that you have to move 'em forward first.

The two front panels lie slightly on the back portion of the hardtop. Since you have to lift the hard top a bit to get it off the steel alignment pins that stick out of the body, you'd be lifting the two front panels as well. But if you have the panels unlatched and unscrewed it shouldn't be a problem.

Hey toad, what do you mean by "tabbies"? Are they on the panels or the soundbar? I am running this setup now and havent noticed any looseness or anything. Thanks!

I run the front two panels by themselves all the time. The tabs are a 1" x 3" block that pivots down to take the place of the thickness of the rear part of the top when removed. They're black, can't miss them.

Yeah, they look like lego blocks on the panels, flip them down before you tighten the big hand screws or suffer the screwholeindetop mod

I'm not sure I follow the tabbie thing either....but...

2 questions.

1. can you still take the doors off? (assuming yes)
2. where is the top supported? I assume the front is attached to the top of the windshield, and then latched in two places like the soft top, but are the tabbies that swing down....are they supported by the roll bar/soundbar?

If I had known this, I would have opted for a hardtop........so how much for a hardtop (used) ? It looks like a new one would be over 2k.

Yes, you can run just the panels either together or separate and/or with the back hard top. I do this a lot here in Florida as the sun is really hard in July-September.

That reminds me...

I have spare panels that I have to put on Ebay or here for sale. I kind of went overboard when I thought I would replace one of them that I dropped.

I will try to get them on here with pictures this week if anyone is interested.
