Default Remote Start question?

Anyone have the Factory remote start? or the OEM aftermarket one?
If so any problems with them?
Is it better to get aftermarket?

When I bought my Wrangler last month I had the dealer add in a remote start.
They said they had to order one.
I thought I was getting a OEM, installed buy the Dealers Service Department but instead they sent my wrangler to some other third party shop and installed a Audiovox Prestige Platinum APS 687a.
The did this without asking me, WTF...
The service department say's they didnt use the OEM because they claimed them to be Problematic
Never once did they ever mention this was going to be done by another shop.

Too make things worse the shop that installed this remote start dented my wrangler

I'm Pissed...........

I had a Prestige remote starter in my TJ that I traded in. Had it quite some time with no problems. They are guaranteed for life so I wouldn't worry too much. I think you will like it.

I'd try to get that dent fixed though.

I didn't want the remote start but it came with the JK I wanted (man I wish I had it when I lived in NY). I have had no problems with it at all.

I had the OE remote start installed in my sahara in April. The kit is a complete bolt on for the 2008's with no cutting, splicing or anything. All parts are mopar parts.

The plus for me is there is the start button right on the 2 keyes that come with the kit. I hate fobs.

It has worked great and actually improved the range of the lock/unlock functions too.....since I had it installed at the dealer and have a service contract it is under warrenty for the duration of the factory warrenty...5 year...

I would have been pissed too...
