Remote Start Range
I drive a school bus and like to hit the remote start as I drive into the bus yard. My Jeep is backed in along the road that I drive into the bus base into. I've noticed that if I dont stop directly behind my jeep and hit the remote buttons that nothing happens. It is parked in between other cars, but I find it odd that I have to be right behind it to start it up. Am I doing something wrong? I also tried to start it from inside a store at the cash register, and nothing.......
My remote start has worked from across a parking lot with the Jeep not even visable, sometimes I use that just to be able to find it. In the morning I wake up and start it while still laying in my bed to warm it up while I get dressed and my bedroom is on the opposite side of house from my driveway. I wonder if you could have a faulty fob, ive had similar experiences but it was a sensor module going out. Best of luck to you.

I second this. I can start my Jeep from 13 floors up in my office as long as I can see it (line of sight)...if the battery is good in the remote. I also agree with whoever it was that posted about the RF being blocked by cars. Sometimes it won't work if I am ground level and there are a lot of cars between me and where it is parked.
I wish there were a feature that would auto-start the Jeep if a crack head walks too close to it. We have all sorts of those behind my office building at the Greyhound bus terminal.

I'm sure you have a two way radio in your bus so you can talk to base. The RF signal from the two way radio may be interfering with your remote if you have the radio on. Try turning the radio off and then try using your auto start. I drive a school bus also as a part time job. I have had problems similar your yours with other electronics

IIRC, there are two types of remote starters.
a "one-way" and a "two-way", I think the two-way confirms the start or something
, I only have the one-way.
The point is that the one-ways supposedly have a much greater range. I seem to remember the papers saying 700 feet.
But it is probably just the battery wearing down....
