I suppose it provides minimal MPG gains from aerodynamic benefits.

It also provides certain removal in offroad situations.

I removed mine the bad way. On a pile of dirt. It's better to do it before that happens.

It's meant to protect the under side of the radiator from road hazards like rocks and debris. Even though it's made from plastic, it probaly still provides some protection. The radiator is already pretty exposed as it is. P.S. The aerodynamic argument is silly. The JK is a rollerskate.

I can't tell any difference with mine on or off other than the fact that it looks better. Its the same way on my '08 Silverado, except that one was made to come off easier. It was only held on by two bolts and a bunch of quick release tabs.

In theory it will give better airflow and help with engine cooling. Must be a very minute difference...

I agree looks way better without it. I do have more problems with the hood lifting at highway speeds now though. Worth the trade off imo since new hood straps fixes the problem.

I think I will pull it off when I get home from work. Think the daystar hood latches are in the works, have enough hood flutter as it is.

I suppose I got lucky, the '09 recall hood latches made all the difference in the world. Even nearly a year and 15k miles later.
