Default Replacing Broken Lug Stud

soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... got my jeep back from the dealer for some routine oil leak repair and i had them check out my parking brake...

long story short... the gave me some bull about pads and shoes and parking brakes not covered under warranty... i of course denied the work and picked up my vehicle..

Today i went to do my oil change and tire rotation... i begin to loosen the rear passenger tire and one lug simply falls off. The stud was apparently torqued on to the point of cross threading and then some.

Take it to the dealer and they said "we can't warranty human error" and I ask them why I should have to pay for stupidity. Either way, they refused to fix what they fucked up and wanted over 100 bucks to replace one stud.

THE POINT: I am taking it to another dealer, but how hard is it to replace a stud if they deny me as well? Press out the old and press in the new I assume by looking at it. I would also like to know how to get that portion (the five studs on the disc) out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What a bunch of freaking stupid idiots. My Grandmother has more common sense. Assholes! I hate stories like that! Some of these dealerships need to be put out of F****ing business for good!

Wheel studs are easy to replace, should only take 30 minutes or so to replace.

If you are not comfortable doing it, take it to any tire shop they should have the job done in under 20 minutes and for far less than the stealership; I really dont think another dealer will replace the stud if you go in and tell them that the other place crossthreaded it. But they might. Good luck

thanks all... well to let you know, the factory stud came out extremely easily... just a few hits with a hammer. I found a similar stud at autozone... but have decided to let the dealer order the factory part. I will install it my self.

I was happy to find out that there is PLENTY OF ROOM to remove old studs and install new ones without further disassembly (pull caliper, retainer, rotor).
