replacing my speed sensor
I was doing some rock crawling and broke my speed sensor wire. I went to jeep and got a new one becaue last time it happen they charged me over $100 bucks to do it for a $12 part. My question is how hard is this to do on my own and where do I find the how to do it. Or if anyone can tell me. By thelooks of it I may have to take off my brake. I am not the most handy when it comes to fixing stuff so bare with me.
yes u have to take your brakes off. im assuming this is front end. u have to get down to the hub (looks like a triangle with rounded edges.) on the hub, u will see where the sensor is bolted on. i believe it takes an allen wrench to remove the bolt. be very carefull when removing the sensor it self. if u crack it and breaks off inside of the hole, its alot more to it. the sensor is actually inside of a hole in the the hub
remove tire
remove brake pads and calliper (what the pads sit in)
remove rotor ( the big shiny circle that your tire bolts to, it should slide right off)
now the hub should be exposed
use allen wrench to unbolt the single bolt, then pull out sensor and change out
you might have to gently pry on the sensor or twist it gently, but it should pull right out
as for the wiring, it should just be a clip, undo the clip and clip the new wire in
i apologize for dumbing this down, i wasnt sure if you knew what the parts are since you said you are not the most handy with this stuff.
