Bank 1 Sensor 2 is on the passenger side, lower. (Assuming left hand drive.)

Are you really sure about this? I found a diagram on justanswer.com which is said to be straight from the FACTORY service manual. I have a P0137 code (Bank 1, Sensor 2), this is why I have searched for a diagram in order to find and replace the right sensor. Do you think this diagram is legit?

From crawling under jeep, the picture looks to be reversed. Exhaust routes down driver side of jeep.

Yes, I am sure. Back when I wanted to know for sure, I pulled the harness off the driver side upper O2 sensor, and it threw a code for Bank 2 Sensor 1.
Bank 1 would be on the same side as cylinder #1, which is the front cylinder on the passenger side.

I have been all through the the factory service manual, and have not seen a diagram showing the O2 sensor locations like your diagram shows. So, I'm thinking that diagram can't be right out of the factory service manual.

I was working on a 2002 rodeo and the codes are totally reversed did not know it at the time whenI checked the o2 sensor the heater circuit was good but the car kept telling me it was bad check with the manufacturer they told me to take out the opposite one that tells me to so if it was the back left it would be the right front crazy foreign cars. I'm on the phone so don't know where you live but if you're in the Milwaukee Wisconsin area I can give you a hand. If you need it

Wow, I am glad, I double checked with you guys. It is crazy what kind of detailed but wrong information like that diagram can be found on the internet.

Is there any doubt left that P0137 is not going to be the lower passenger side sensor? Here is what this code is about (my Superchips Traildash also says something like "low voltage on 1/2 O2 sensor": OBD-II Trouble Code: P0137 Oxygen O2 Sensor Low Voltage (Bank1, Sensor2)

I guess I should pull the harness of the sensor and see what code I get to confirm the "1/2-location", right? How soon would that code come on? Right after engine start up?

It should be within a few minutes but I would let it wait to get to operating temperature you should at least get a open heater circuit when you disconnect

All Data DIY has a nice diagram of the O2 sensor locations. Cant copy it here. If you are going to do work on your JK and keep it, joining All Data makes sense. There are on-line coupons for a subscription discount. I don't work for All Data, just a fan

I looked into how the service manual lists the O2 sensors.

They use a system like this: 1/1; 1/2; etc.

The problem is, when they show a picture of one of the banks, the first number represents the bank and the second number represents the position in the bank. But, in the picture of the other bank, the representations are reversed so the first number represents the location in the bank, and the second number represents the bank.

So, to make things more clear, bank 1 is on the right side of the engine as viewed from behind, and bank 2 is on the left side of the engine as viewed from behind.

The upper sensor is 1; the lower sensor is 2.

With this in mind, the location of bank 1, sensor 2, should be clear. Even if you write it sensor 2, bank 1, there should be no confusion.
