I called Brent back as that is the same email reply I got from him when I emailed about the paint. Couldn't get a hold of him but got another customer rep. After explaining the issue to her several times to get her to understand it boiled down to this.

A. If it passes QC from paint then it is fine as far as DC is concerned.

B. Dealer has the option to fix at their discretion but "A" statement is what they get when they call DC about the issue.

I was not too pleased with that response. As kindly as I could, I told her that Honda, Toyota, Subaru, etc do not have half painted cars passing inspection on their lines and unless DC would like to fall even farther to these very competitive brands then they need to ensure that their vehicles are completely painted off of the line.

Her Response....

"I'll note that, thanks a lot"

Go bang on your dealers door. Make them do something. If they get it warrantied they make money on it.

When I read all the reply, I was wondering that someone would tell that the problem as been addressed but it seems to be a ''not my fault'' issue with DC. It will be my first new car and I fear that I will have to fight with the dealer to be satisfy as DC didn't seems to accept the fact. Wish mine will be ok as not everyone seems to have this problem.

Fixed it for you. My $26,000 new Subaru Outback is completely painted, hinges, trim, everything. And guess what, after 35,000 miles already there isn't even a rattle. If I didn't love Jeeps so much....

I fired off an email to DC telling them that I went to my local dealer, and every JK on the lot had missing paint behind the door hinges. I asked if it was a quality control issue, and asked that someone get back to me as I am "interested in purchasing a new JK Wrangler, but want this problem addressed first."

I neglected to mention that I already have a JK on order, and that I would buy the Jeep missing paint and all. Just hoping enough people are raising enough cain to get the problem addressed before my BG status turns into D status in, oh shall we say a couple decades?! That's how long it seems I've been waiting. I can't believe it's only been 3-1/2 weeks.

My "local" Jeep dealer (1 hour away) got their brochures in yesterday, so I drove over to get one. They had gotten a new unlimited Sahara in, and I checked the doors. It was hard to tell because it was a silver Jeep, but it looked to me as if there was paint behind the hinges on that one. They said they have 2 Rubicon Unlimiteds on order, both Rescue Green. I'l check both when they arrive for paint issues.

I was at the dealer today (test drove a 2D Rubicon Manual Soft Top, just like mine, with different inside options and colors).

I looked at every wrangler on their lot, 7 2Ds and 5-6 4Ds. Not one had any paint problems, other than one spot of tree sap or tape goo on a fender.
