Default Is this right???

I am folding down the soft top on my JKU for the first time since I put it on last week. It doesn't seem like it is stowing flat enough. I have stuffed and folded this thing every way possible. The header ends up about even with the third brake light. Is this all the flatter it goes?? If not, what the heck am I doing wrong? Pointers??

Try stuffing more of the top down into the trunk or make the top s-fold tightly. It takes time with a new top.

Tie the side poles to the top of the tub and search YouTube

Well the videos basically look like the way I am doing it. I just remember my YJ's and TJ's folding pretty much flat. Anyway...i cannot see any straps to hold it to the tub so I guess I will try and find some velcro ones at WallyWorld tomorrow.

I had the same problem. The folds I did with the sunrider section was wrong so it would not lay flat. The material would hit the rollbar when folded all the way back. I found it easier to fold sunrider section standing in rear seat. When the sunrider is lifted 90 degrees , pull the material all the way back with right hand. You need that material to pleat/ fold like a "w" . If the material is dropping in sight of rear view mirror, when in sunrider position, it may not be folded right. After that step is completed, the back corners of sail panel need to be folded on top, so they are out of the way. I'm lock both latches on middle of top. Then you can lower whole top. This part is much easier with help from a friend. You may need to re-tuck the pleats when you get it down. I wish there was a step by step photo guide, that shows the folds in the top well.

I had this problem, also. Mine was the result of having the front cross bow accidentally located on the wrong side of the side bows.

The front cross bow has "Lego hands" that allow it to attach to the side bows when the top is all the way up. However, the top won't fold back correctly if those Lego hands get stuck under the side bows.

Those "lego hands" were only on the earlier softtops
