OK,

I have stock 4DR black HALF DOORS equiped on my JK. I like them, it took forever for me to find it back in Feb. I had to travel a long way from my home to a dealer who had it to get it. I've still never seen another JK equiped with one in California.

I love the look of them. But for ride safety of my kiddies, security concerns in SoCal(damn thugs), I'm thinking of putting them up for trade for full doors plus some $$$. Because these are hard to find and are in demand...am I wrong to ask for a trade for full doors PLUS $1000? This will help me to lift it and put some bigger tires on too.

I did not have to pay extra for these, but I did have to search my ass off to find them and they are still unavailable as far as I know. Does supply and demand apply here?

Since the half doors are probably going to be cheaper when they can be bought, I would trade them for full doors and PAY them $1000.

Half doors are available now and as you said the cost is the same from the factory. I'd say you'll be lucky to find an even trade. I am considering trading my full doors for half doors, but to be honest it isn't that big a deal since the window roll down anyway. And it really doesn't matter much if the doors are removed.

 

Supply and demand does work here. I'm sure you'll find out whether or not they're worth trade +$1000. If you can't get anyone to give you full doors plus $1K, then you'll know what they're worth.

 

I can't remember where but I found some site that had an upgrade. it was a hard plastic outer rim and a actual glass window for the half door. Maybe google it... Sorry I couldn't be more help. -Captian

 

You're not wrong, just crazy. lol Just kidding. Doesn't hurt to test the market right? Maybe someone's desperate to have them. Capitalize on another Jeeper fiending for something different, why not!

 

Sounds fair. Someone was trying to peice together factory half doors by ordering parts from the dealer and they had spent like 4-5K.

Maybe true, but this trade would require someone to give up thier full doors, and how much are those worth if ordering parts from a dealer. Certainly try, but when I asked the dealership why they don't order 1/2 door versions the response was "everyone coming in wants full doors since they are the same price so there is less demand for the 1/2 doors".

 

Wonder what it costs to order full doors this way? Probably alot more.
