Stock JK TechBulletin board forum regarding issues with OE (original equipment) components of the Jeep JK Wrangler (Rubicon, Sahara, Unlimited and X) such as factory suspension parts, engine, transmission, body parts, interior fixtures and the on-board computer.
I know they've made these posts and I've read several and even tried searching the numbers shown. My questions are while the build numbers match why are there 2 different ones? And what do the jl7 and 46 stand for? I'm basically starting with an empty case. New carrier ring and pinion. Not much to go off of on the old one pictured.
the "U4K-063" is the matching serial numbers for the ring and pinion (a matched set). The 697-420 (with a simple google search) is a Dorman part number for a replacement ring and pinion. The other random numbers I'm sure are casting codes or other manufacturers markings. I don't see any markings indicating the gear ratio. Are you going back with just an open diff or replacing the limited slip ?
That makes sense. I mean that's pretty much what I knew. I was worried because the other numbers were off. And I was really hoping for a variance number. But I got a Dana trac lok carrier that's going in. And the 41x9 is your gear ratio. They're 4.56 gears.
