Road debris cut hole in A/C Condensor
Just a FYI. Driving On Interstate and a very small piece of some unk type of road debris hit front of jeep. Soon after A/C stopped blowing cold. Long story short. Dealer advised the incident caused damage to the A/C condensor. The hole was so tiny i was amazed how delicate and vulnerable these jeeps are to this because the condensor sits in front of the radiator with little or no protection. So moral is the mesh grille insert isnt only decorative it will probably help prevent this from happening again. So i just ordered a blk metal mesh insert for $40. In the meantime the cost to fix is $800 all parts and labor. Insurance will cover most over deductible.
Yikes that's a lot of money.
I've been having AC issues - and suspect that I took a stone to the condenser.
Maybe it goes without saying, but the inexpensive plastic "gutter guard" stuff should only be considered for looks, and maybe keeping leaves out. Mine has been punctured by ice, salt pellets, and other highway debris.
