Default Rock Rails and paint damage

Hey all. This is an odd question. My jeep is running 33's on offset rims which push the wheels about an inch past the fender. Right now i have the sahara side steps but I am thinking of going with rock rails. Aside from throwing more dirt up the side, should I expect paint damage? The steps seem to work a bit like mud guards but I dont use them for steps and in the winter they basically just serve to get my pants legs dirty haha.

Just looking for some thoughts. My jeep is primarily a road/mild trail daily driver.

Thanks

I drive down a lot of roads with loose gravel and I havent seen any paint damage, but my rear fenders are getting chewed up. I also got hit in the face with a rock that my front wheel threw up when i had the doors off.

You can put a pair of front splash guards on (the rear ones are worthless). They make a huge difference. Before, my 2-door used to get splatter (mud/snow/salt) diagonally across the doors. After intallation, it just gets on the rear fenders. Also fyi, they will fit with the Mopar rock rails. Initially I put mine on thinking of taking them off in the Summer. Well, they don't look bad imo, and I've completely forgotten they're ever on, so they've become a permanent fixture.
