Post rubicon rear locker...

How can you use rubicon locker in 2 wd, instead of only 4 wd?

they jeep ecu engages the lockers(in 4lo only)by providing ground to the locker relay(by battery)there are posts on this site(Bofer84 locker mod)showing how to use a switch to provide ground to relay to enable use of rear locker(or front)regardless of transfer case position.I have done my rear and works well(hate to critique another member but DO NOT use "scotch locks"as shown on this post(little blue things that you put new wire in and clamshell around existing wire)they cause alot of harness failures.use good sealed connections where ever you tie into existing harness,I have had great success with this mod and use my locker quite often in 2wd

what they said. if you are looking for a rear locker, i would recommend that you get something like an OX or ARB installed. they are much stronger and work a lot better too.

To clarify: You may only activate the lockers in 4LO. They don't activate in 4LO without you hitting the switch.

I am going to say this cannot be done on an '08 without a lot of computer interference. (just so someone will prove me wrong, because I want to do this and can find it only applied to '07's.)

Which thread did you use a s a guide?
No strange ESP/ABS behaviors? Does it throw any codes/lights?
I was concerned it would leave some tell-tale signs in the computer and screw up the Lifetime Warranty.

I used Bofer84's write up. No strange ESP/ABS behaviors, no codes. The locker light flashes when it is engaged when I used the modified switch, but lights up constantly when I use the factory switch when in 4lo.

Default no logged faults or other electronic issues

have run this for awhile(rear only)have not logged any faults.only locker light flashes when used ecu detects locker position sw.in locked position outside of off road mode(4low),which serves as an indicator light to show locker engaged.if you do this mod take the time to do nice sealed connections where to tap into pin 5(locker relay control circuit)mopar was nice enough to provide a good quality sealed relay and people were posting pics using"scotch lock"(little blue crappy clamshell things)which are not sealed, tend to cut strands in the "tapped" circuit and pretty much always cause premature harness failure
also wayoflife is right this is kinda a low budget band aid use my rear locker very carefully in 2 high and am still on stock 32 tires and 4 11 gears.I do not think stock would hold up very well to hard use with larger tire/lower gear, also have not measured current draw from lockers but it is alot, had key on both diffs locked and sway bar disco energised while doing suspension mods, very suprised at how quick this pulled down my gel cell semi deep cycle battery and had to boost, something to consisder with elec lockers engaged, sway bar, lights on,heavy winching etc that could be alot of current draw(I smell smoke)
