Default Rust on an 09!?

I'm so mad.

My 2009 jk (brought brand new) has little dots of rust all over the jeep. It's like pebbles of rust everywhere.

You think this would be covered under warranty?

I had a similar experience with my new (to me) 2011 Rubicon. Little cuts in the undercarriage that were rusting at 14K miles, and this Jeep had not seen a dirt road yet. Dealer told me that it was superficial and not covered by warranty. Seeking a second opinion.

Jeepwave your jeep has been exposed to metal dust, which if not removed will be converted into rust specks once it is exposed to humidity or moisture. Either get the vehicle polished by a buffer or in some cases a clay bar application will remove it.

So probably doesn't need a paint job?

Mine is an 08' and is absolutely rust free all around. A co-worker has an 09' that he does nothing too and that thing is a rust bucket. I promised my eight year old the keys to my Jeep on his 16th Birthday so i want to keep it as mint as possible for him.
This is what I'm hearing from people on jeep forum too. So it could likely just be surface and come off?

that is correct- if not left on for extreme lengths of time. If you clean the dust rust off after first noticing it there should be no problem. The screws have a coating like gun blue on them, unscrew them and refinish with spray rustoleum paint. Reinstall and paint the centers of the screws with a small brush.
