Rust on axles is normal. Look at the axles of any truck or other Jeep, in your area, and you will see the same

I sprayed the knuckles and u-joints/ears with Rustoleum protective paint. Looks great and still holding strong. Had 2 snow falls so far and lots of salt thrown down. Looks just as good as the day and sprayed it on.
