have you had the screws out or the windshield down before? My guess is that they have been removed and some paint got scratched off or chipped away in the process and its caused water/salt to get in to corrode the metal, dont know how much saltwater is in the air in Tyler though? Best bet would be to take the panels off, if it isn't to bad, and put some touch up paint on to stop it from getting worse. Or you could sand them down and rino line them. that would stop rusting for sure.

My 2011 that I traded had it on both sides. More on the outside edges of the Torx heads. The Jeep was white and you could see where the rust was dripping down onto the paint. Looked like crap especially being brand new. I took some black touch up paint to each head and that helped but it was just temporary. If I would have kept it most likely I would have taken the bolts out, sanded the heads, and then primed, painted with some Rustoleum. If you ever decide to take them out be careful as the heads are easy to strip.

i thought there was some type of rust "warranty" that came with the jeeps. I had the same thing and i was able to get mine fixed by the dealership free of charge.

They do have rust warranty but if you read it is actually "rust through". Surface rust, etc isn't really warranty but some dealers will help you work around the little issues. I know when I used to work for Nissan, GM, Jeep, and Toyota anytime we had a rust or paint damage claim our body shop would have to take photos of the issues and submit them for approval.

My brand new 2011 Silver Jeep had/has the same rust as well. I'm not sure if it's the bolt or the sheetmetal around the bolt. I am looking at replacing the bolts with stainless steel ones. I'll let you know how it works out when I get to it.

Brand new '10 had this. Didn't notice until I had gotten it home...surface rust on and around the torx bolt. Hard to keep moisture/water out of there i guess, but it is still troublesome to see on a new vehicle
