Please correct me if I am wrong.
You know, you are right. I just went outside and put a magnet to them and they are NOT metal... Hmmm, go figure... Now I guess that it is the paint not sticking to the aluminum or they were not cleaned properly prior to painting... Good catch.
The door hinges on the doors are aluminum but the hinges on the Jeep body are metal and they are not "bubbling" like the door portion is.

Who dah thunk!!!

I just got my hinges repainted under warranty. The scary thing is that the paint shop and the service manager stated that they will rust again. It is not the pin in the hinge that is rusting it is the little metal bushing that will rust again.

Ben

Wanna see lacking paint quantity? Look at the bottom side of the tailgate.

I found bubbling on my drivers side door.
I have taken it to dealer, just waiting to hear from Chrysler Australia.

Also on the paint quality, the paint on my doors surface area has a slight orange peel effect, do you think this could be warranty job or would the form you sign when you pick it up to say that there are no chips/scratches etc would negate this is?

Mine has the same thing. Not sure if it would be covered.

While walking to may car this morning I noticed that my hinge looked very white, I chalked it up to being salt from the road, gotta love the north east winters. When i got to work this morning i took a closer look at the door hinges and noticed the bolts were rusted to hell. I've had my JK since July and can't believe that it could rust this quickly, I never even got the chance to take the doors off so there is no way I could have chipped the paint. It even looks like the rust had spread to the hinges. I shot an email to the dealer today explaining my frustration and am waiting to hear back. Have people had luck with the dealers re-painting the hinges? Have alot of people had this issue?

I know its a jeep, but I've had the thing for less then a year, I can deal with a few water droplets or a few rattles, but rusting after a 8 months, that is dissapointing.

I looked at a ~31k mile 4-door rubicon and most of the hinges on it had the paint missing - actually the rear flares were beat with what I would probably assume was from driving down a dirt road every day and the rocks flying up and chipping at the paint and the rear flare - if you look down the side of a jeep the rocks thrown from the tires will fly up and the only things that stick out to hit are the hinges and rear flare - I'm looking for a way to prevent that from happening on my JK - going to look at nerfs soon just to prevent the rock chips / fender flare 'sandblasting'

A question to those that are having this problem - do you have running boards or tubular steps on the jeep?
