Default Seafoam clarifications

I am planning on using seafood through the gas tank. Will I need to replace anything after using it after "cleaning" the fuel system?

My second questions is right before I do my next oil change I will put it in through the brake booster vacuum hose. When I use 1/2 a can there will I need to replace anything else? After running it through the vacuum hose I will then change my oil like normal.

Thanks.

I don't use Seafoam so I can't help, but am interested to see how it works. From what I've found in the past Seafoam uses alcohol to clean deposits so make sure the alcohol content of the fuel isn't too high when you run it in.

You've got the procedures a little confused here. You're supposed to run it through the brake vacuum hose but that goes into your intake. I've run it this way once on the Jk and didn't replace anything after doing it. I've also done it that way on my Tj. Mopar sells an actual Combustion Chamber Cleaner that you can use if that's what you're looking to clean up. It's possible to foul your plugs running any of the concentrated cleaners through the intake....but again- I've not had issues, yet.

Putting it in the oil is fine but you'll only want to run that oil for a short period of time before replacing it and obviously no hard pulls when it's in there. To change afterwards would be your oil (obviously) and filter.

As far as putting it in your gas tank- it would theoretically clean your fuel injectors but wouldn't cause any sort of damage that you'd need to replace components.

I followed a guide on the ls forum 1. Through the tank 2. Vacuum hose 3. Through the oil just wondering if this was ok for the 3.8. So far what I understood was run through the tank till empty, run through the brake vacuum for less than 50 and then put in engine oil for less than 50 as well then change oil as the oil will contain a lot of sludge.

When you pull it through your brake booster it goes into the air portion of your motor- you won't be able to run it for 50 miles. You've got to slowly feed the seafoam into that line otherwise you'll hydrolock your motor- I've actually run this method on my own jeep, I'm not pulling this from the internet 'experts'.

You'll feed it through the line there and the jeep will start coughing and spewing smoke but that's normal, just don't get too carried away with it or hydrolock. The Mopar product is injected through the throttle body (I've done this one as well). It makes just as much smoke but it's designed to bog the motor, choke it, then sit in the combustion chambers for a period of time (15 mins?) before you start it back up and run it till the smoke clears.

Again- I've done it that way, so you can follow that or dump your entire can in like the LS forum sounds to suggest and hydrolock your motor.

As for the oil- I run synthetic and always have so I have not experimented with any additives in the oil. I've seen numbers as high as 500 miles depending on how much you put in your oil.

If I were to do it again- I'd go with the Mopar stuff through the throttle body. Gasoline is clean enough these days but if you really want to put something in there then go ahead. For the oil- that's up to you but unless I'm visibly seeing gummy deposits in the motor, (e.g. covers off or the oil pan is off), I wouldn't put anything extra in the oil either.

It's your vehicle though, so do as you'd like and report back so the skeptics (myself) will know if it's worth the $8 to pour into the oil and gas tank.
