Default Seepage front of Engine Block: What is it?

Was changing my oil this weekend, and while looking around at everything inspecting, I found this. I wiped off the dirt/oily residue so it is cleaner, but you can still see it. This is my first and only real problem I have had, not sure if it is a problem yet, I have 12,500 miles on the ticker.

Anyway, pictures are always good.
Me pointing at the thing I cleaned off and where the seepage is:

Random close ups. From above and underneath.

It's not much of a problem, it's the front engine cover leaking. This is a common fault for the 3.8 V6.

I experienced the same weeping, not really a leak per se.... Just some very minor seepage around the idler pulley. When I brought the Jeep in for the re-flash (tranny temp recall), the dealer replaced the front cover gasket. I was almost due for an oil change, and got a free oil change as a result (required when they remove the front cover).

Any oil leak, no matter how trivial, should be brought to the dealer's attention.

My regards,

Widewing

no your pointing at the belt tensioner.. the waterpump is just to driver side with the threads on it and the belt almost all the way around it.

the tensioner would not leak... its just a spring inside the housing.. my guess is cover as stated by widewing.

and just above your finger is the power steering pump.

There's a TSB out for this, I have the same seepage but not so much, no drips either. Keeping an eye on it.

At first I thought maybe I didn't seat the oil filter tight enough the last oil change, but the seepage is on top as well, it would be hard for oil to go forward, up, then back to get on top.

Yes, Wideing, like yours, not leaking, it is just seepage, no drips.

I will clean, keep an eye on it, and go get a free oil change next time, since I just changed it. I will have to talk with them, because I don't want regular oil in, I want my Mobil 1.

That TSB only covers 2007-2008 models. Mine is a 2009. I guess it won't matter, since I'm still under full warranty. I am keeping a copy of it nonetheless.

So, soon (5,000 miles from now) I get to go to my first dealer trip.

My door lock squeals sometimes too, but I bet I can't replicate it for them

After I eat buffalo chicken wings I tend to seep and weep a bit. Usually hot the next restoom to "change the oil."

Why is there an American flag below the crank and idler pulley?
