Default serious oil leak

a few oil changes ago i when i changed my oil only 2 quarts drained out. since then i have checked my oil level weekly and seem to have to add oil often. i changed my oil today and only had 4 1/2 quarts drain and i just added oil to it about 2 weeks ago. so i got to looking around and it looks like oil is coming from the pulley just above the oil pan. does anybody know what this pulley is and if oil can leak from that spot. thanks in advance.

Are you sure the oil isn't leaking from the oil filter (located next to the pulley). The old oil filter gasket can get stuck on causing leaks when the new filter is screwed in on top of it.

It could be a front main seal, or more likely be leaking down from the front timing cover.

There is a TSB out for porous seal surfaces on front engine covers. Mine (a 2008) had this problem and the timing cover was replaced under warranty.
