1. On 4x4 vehicles grasp the transfer case shifter knob and pull straight up and remove the knob.

2. On manual transmission vehicles, using a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, separate the shifter boot (2) from the console bezel (1).

3. Remove the bolt (3) and remove the manual transmission shifter (2) from the shifter shaft (1).

thats its, put your jeep in first gear and pull up on the shifter, it'll come off..

get a plastic putty knife and gently pry up on the back of the ring, it'll pop off.

its hooked in the front.

I replaced my black ring with a billet aluminum ring..

bling bling

The back being the side closest to the rear of the vehicle. I don't know why but I twisted this in my head and pried on the forward part only to find that it has hooks. The good news is that even if you pry on the "front" it gives before it breaks!

Question Speaking of .....

I have a 6 speed and the 4x4 handle makes a anoying rattle when it's all the way. Sound like it's vibrating against the plastic. I tried to take it to the dealer, but it's impossible to duplicate since I live on a dirt road and they're in the city. Does anyone have a way I can snap the console off or do you thing I'll be able to reach it from removing the boot. I just want to adjust that hadle somehow. Thanks.

How do you remove the climate knobs? Just pull straight off? And are those actually billet or are they?
