Default Shift out of park without pushing brake

I had a squeaking sound where my brake penetrates the firewall and decided a little silicone spray would fix it up. Well it did, but I developed a clicking noise behind the shifter cover (automatic) that you can actually feel when's jeep is in park and I push and release the brake pedal. Turns out I can shift out of park without pushing the brake. I cannot figure out how to remove the cover at the stem of the shifter without removing the whole center console. Any ideas????

There is a linkage attached to the brake pedal that locks the shifter until you depress the brake. Guessing your silicone spray has made it slippery enough to allow you to bypass it. I would look there first before dismantling your console.

Nope, it is electronically controlled unfortunately. I think the silicone loosened it up to work properly and the mechanism that locks out the shifter is out of its track. Thank goodness for the lifetime warranty and thanks for the input.
